Congratulations to

Henry James

who has had an outstanding year in 2011. Early in the year he held off a strong challenge from our best U18 players to win the Boys' Stroke Play Championships at Moseley Golf Club. This was after a tough seven hole play-off against Kieron Austin (Hagley G.C.), which finished in the dark!

In a closely fought final Henry, aged 17 yrs,( pictured above driving off the First Blue Tee) managed to edge to a one hole lead at the 9th. It was refreshing to see two players 'getting on with the game' whilst playing excellent golf.  Members of the club kindly stood aside as they powered their way around the course in two and a half hours. Henry began to edge further ahead on the back nine with a few well taken birdies before securing his victory on the 6th Red Green with another birdie, to win 4 & 3. This victory crowns an excellent week for Henry, who won the U18 match play championship on Tuesday afternoon. Paul was full of praise for his young victor and it is clear that he has a bright future in the game.
