We arrived at Llanymynech Golf Club after an hour and a half plus car journey, by driving up a mountain road and through the clouds to see a well prepared golf course.  Our hosts were very accommodating handing us bacon rolls, coffee & oxygen on arrival!

The foursomes didn’t go at all well for us, with local knowledge being the key to this fixture, playing against a Shropshire & Herefordshire team which included 5 club members. GPS & range finders weren’t much use, as we needed Ghurkha’s and periscopes to see some of the greens & fairways.  Subsequently we went into lunch 4 ½ to ½ down, with Russ Ager & James Robinson earning our ½ point and really unlucky not to score a point, their opponents tee shot on 17 hit the S&H team official’s buggy, which kept it out of all sorts of trouble, they found the green and then they holed a 25’ putt to win the hole.  It was beginning to look like one of those days!!

Requiring a minor miracle from the 10 singles match, the players at least had some idea of where the were going, we had great wins from Matt Tweddell, Dave Marshall, Russ Ager, James Robinson & Greg Higgitt.  The word on the course was the big fight back was on, added to this were halves from Matt Feavyour and Ben Robinson, myself, James Berwick & Ben Myatt all ran out of holes losing 1 down to our opponents.  It was a real team effort which just came up 1 ½ points short.
